Affiliate Program Terms

These terms explain how the Cosmos affiliate program works: how you earn, who actually pays you, how your earnings are attributed and measured, and what is not promised. They form part of our Terms of Service. Please read section 3 in particular - it explains why your effective percentage varies.

1. How you earn: the Polymarket builder fee

Cosmos does not pay you a commission out of its own revenue. You are paid the Polymarket builder fee, directly by Polymarket, on orders that carry your builder code.

To take part you create your own builder profile with Polymarket and set its taker fee (we ask for 0.9% so that referred users are charged the same as everyone else). You then register that builder code with Cosmos. When a trader you referred places an order carrying your code, Polymarket attributes the builder fee on that order to you and pays it to you on their schedule, under their terms. Cosmos is not a party to that payment, does not hold the money, and cannot release, delay, or recover it.

2. Attribution: only orders that carry your code

You earn on orders that were signed with your builder code- not on everything your referrals trade. The builder code is part of the signed order itself, so attribution is decided at the moment the order is created and cannot be changed afterwards.

This is why your dashboard reports attached volume rather than total referral volume: it counts only the orders that actually carried your code. Your referrals will trade more than that figure shows. That is expected, and it is the honest number to reason about, because it is the only volume that pays you.

3. Rotation: why your percentage is approximate

A referred user's bot does not put your code on every order. It rotates: roughly one order in four carries your builder code, and the rest carry the Cosmos code. Headline figures such as "~0.45% of referral volume" are derived from that ratio and are estimates of a long-run average, not a rate you are owed.

Your realised share can land above or below any figure we publish. The reasons are structural, not exceptional:

• The rotation counter advances when an order is attempted, so an order that is rejected, killed by the order book, or never filled can still consume a rotation slot. Over a small number of trades this alone moves your share noticeably.
• It counts buys and sells, and a position may be exited in one order or several, so the share of filled volume that carries your code is not fixed.
• Fee is charged on the traded notional, so the same rotation over different trade sizes produces a different amount.
• A referred user may pause, stop, or uninstall their bot at any time, change their settings, or trade manually without it.
• Polymarket sets and may change the builder-fee mechanism, its rate, and its payout terms. Cosmos does not control any of them.

Over a long period and many trades, the average tends toward the published figure. Over any given day, week, or individual referral, it may not. You should treat published percentages as indicative only.

4. Who is a valid referral

A referral counts when a new user signs up through your link and their account is not flagged as self-referred. Self-referrals - including signups from the same person, household, device, or network - do not earn, and the account will be marked as an invalid referral at signup.

Your affiliate status must be active and in good standing. If your account is suspended, banned, or flagged for suspected fraud, code rotation stops for your referrals from that point forward; orders they place afterwards carry the Cosmos code and earn you nothing.

5. Figures shown in the dashboard and on marketing pages

Dashboard figures are Cosmos's own estimate, calculated from orders our systems recorded as carrying your code and the prevailing builder-fee rate. They are provided for convenience and may differ from what Polymarket actually pays you, because Polymarket's ledger - not ours - is authoritative. Differences can arise from orders we did not observe, cancellations, corrections, or changes on their side.

Any earnings example, simulator, or projected figure shown anywhere on this site is illustrative. It is not a forecast, an offer, or a guarantee of income. Actual earnings depend entirely on whether the people you refer trade, how much, and for how long - and most referrals earn little or nothing.

6. Hosted accounts

For users on Cosmos Cloud, the set of builder codes that may be used is fixed inside the security policy of their account when it is created. If someone you referred connected a hosted account before your affiliate code existed, their orders will not carry it until they reconnect. We will not weaken an account's security policy in order to add a code to it.

7. Changes and termination

We may change these terms, the rotation ratio, or the program itself, and we may end the program or your participation in it at any time. Where a change materially reduces how you earn, we will make reasonable efforts to tell you in advance. Earnings already paid to you by Polymarket are unaffected by any change here, because they were never ours to alter.
